DFDS recently prior to that bought the UK to Norway vessel, and took on the route. However later took the vessel off, and used it to suit it’s own routes - justifying that the Newcastle to Bergen route simple was declining and loosing money.
In August 2010,
DFDS takes over Norfolk Line, and announces as of December 15th that the Rosyth to Zeebrugge route will be stopped. Notice any similarities?
THE RIGHT VESSEL
We’re activley searching for a vessel to run the route with the following specifications;
- 175m vessel, in length - A 4m Wave Restriction - 600+ Passengers - 400+ Vehicles
Since Winter 2009, research has began into how the route could be restarted. Britain2Norway isn’t a company or official charity - as you no doubt could have told by now. However in the coming months, we hope to have more time on our hands to engage with the public, expand and tell you more about our plans.
To us, the most realistic way to get the traffic moving again. Is for a new Shipping Company to start up, purchase a vessel - and start the route.
Which surprisingly, could be that easy..
Please keep checking back in the near future. Where we should slowly expand our website.
